Students specialising in animation and interactive media start their project-based study at the Animationsinstitut with a cross-institutional semester project. They produce trailers (AniTrailer) as well as interactive media installations, live interactions, or VR and AR applications (AniSpace) for the International Animation Festival and the FMX in Stuttgart. In joint workshops, students develop their initial ideas, and work in interdisciplinary teams. Projects are then supervised by teaching staff conceptually, technically, and during implementation. The support sessions take place on a weekly basis. The semester presentation takes place in March the following year in the form of a presentation (AniTrailer), a test setup, or a dress rehearsal (AniSpace).
Seminars
Seminars (interdisciplinary and/or inter-year) and individual/team meetings take place at regular intervals. In addition, participation in a selection of courses offered by the Production department is compulsory for students specialising in AEP.
Examples:
- Production Management Basics
- Employment framework conditions for film production
- Marketing / Distribution
- Financing animation projects
- Media foundations
Project work
Students specialising in AEP work in parallel on various animation and VFX projects carried out by the Animation Institute and the Film Academy. Projects typically consist of five phases: brainstorming, idea development, pre-production, production, and project completion.
Weeklies
