Each academic year, a team of students from the Film Academy at the national French film school La fémis create a short film, about fifteen minutes long. The production is made as part of the third year film production at fémis. Teams of six (director, scriptwriting, camera (x2), montage, production) from Ludwigsburg make an application together. One part of the application consists of an exposé of a story that would be fleshed out in Paris. Once there, the students are then be mentored by local students. Pre-production and production of the film take place from the start of September through to shortly before Christmas, and post-production is then completed at the Film Academy. The programme ends with a collective presentation of all the films, which usually takes place in April of the following year.
The costs of the programme are covered by the Film Production Fast-track of the scholarship, the Baden-Württemberg SCHOLARSHIP. This includes the production budget, the costs for mentoring at fémis, and the cost of renting accommodation in Paris for the duration of the programme. Scholarships are only paid in kind. Students of the Film Academy may apply if they would be in their second at the time of receiving the scholarship.
