Profile

The study course begins with a 4-semester undergraduate studies programme. In the first year, in addition to cinematography-specific content, interdisciplinary courses from the fields of experimental film, screenwriting, directing, editing and production are taught, similar to a general studies programme.

In the second year, in addition to technical cinematography, practice-orientated and interdisciplinary training in documentary and fiction film is also included.
After completing the second year, all students can and should gain international experience in the film industry during a ‘mobility’ year.

In the subsequent graduate studies programme, the focus is on artistic and organisational cinematography in various genres. Interdisciplinary seminars and workshops broaden the training – always with the latest production technology, including VFX.
Practical collaboration on student film projects trains students to work in a team in a responsible position under realistic conditions.

The high quality of training in the cinematography programme enables graduates to find their place in the professional environment of the media industry and to present themselves as competent, versatile and creative professionals. In addition to their technical expertise, it is their artistic dispositions and communication skills in particular that will distinguish them as valued partners in the industry.
