Children's Film House Ludwigsburg: Extended opening hours

Media education meets creativity

For almost two decades, the Kinderfilmhaus (Children's Film House) in Ludwigsburg has been offering children and young people the opportunity to discover the world of film in a playful and creative way. As a media education project of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, the Children's Film House is not only a place for young media enthusiasts, but also a living example of how students are actively involved in the practical teaching of film knowledge.

An innovative concept for young media fans

The concept of the Children's Film House has been specifically developed in recent years. In addition to classic guided tours focusing on animated and live-action films, the focus is now on mini-workshops. Here, children can participate in the creation of a film within half a day and thus experience the creative and technical side of the medium. This hands-on approach enables young visitors to understand and critically question the mechanisms and creative possibilities of the media world.

New opening hours since June

From June onwards, the Kinderfilmhaus extends its regular opening hours. In addition to its previous weekend opening times, the Kinderfilmhaus is now also open on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. During this time, half-hour short tours are offered, giving visitors an exciting insight into the work and concept of the Kinderfilmhaus. Participation costs €3 for adults and €1.50 for children. These new opening hours are aimed at families, individuals, and other interested parties who would like to get an impression of the Kinderfilmhaus in a flexible manner and without prior registration.

Flexible opening hours for individual needs

The Kinderfilmhaus is run by students from the Filmakademie, who take on this task alongside their studies. As a result, regular opening hours have been limited to weekends. However, the Kinderfilmhaus offers school classes and groups the opportunity to make appointments during the week on request. This flexible offer is popular with educational institutions and allows the Kinderfilmhaus to be integrated into the everyday life of elementary and secondary schools.

Strong support from sponsors

The positive development of the Kinderfilmhaus would not have been possible without the support of its partners. The City of Ludwigsburg provides the historic Aldinger Torhaus free of charge. Significant financial support comes from, among others, a distinguished Ludwigsburg foundation, whose funding enables key projects to be carried out. Additional income from workshops and guided tours also contributes to the financing.

A look to the future

The Kinderfilmhaus remains a central location for media education in Ludwigsburg. The creative atmosphere of the workshops not only encourages children to become critical media users, but also active creators. They experience how their own ideas are transformed into moving images and learn how films can tell stories and convey emotions. At the same time, the students of the Filmakademie who support the running of the center benefit from valuable practical experience in educational work. Together, they create an inspiring place that promotes creativity, knowledge, and cooperation.
