BAFTA Yugo Student Awards 2024: The winners have been announced
At the BAFTA ceremony of the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards, the finalists were announced from over 800 entries from 109 schools in 37 countries. Among the nominees in the ‘Live Action’ category is the FABW production HAUS AM HANG (Halfway House) by Konstantin Münzel, the only entry from a German film school to be nominated. The award ceremony took place on 12 July in Los Angeles, and we would like to congratulate the team around director Konstantin Münzel.
HAUS AM HANG (Halfway House) was made in the second year of study and is set in an institution for young offenders, where physical labour and uncompromising hierarchical structures prevail. The story revolves around Jurek, who gets into a complex relationship with the newcomer Sascha, which jeopardises his release.
This year, the best projects were honoured in six categories: Animation, Documentary, Live Action, Games, Immersive and the Special Jury Prize. The awards ceremony was hosted by Elliot Knight and the prizes were presented by celebrities such as Victoria Bousis and John Aoshima.
The Yugo Student Choice Award went equally to EINSAMKEIT by María Conchita Díaz from the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico and HAUS AM HANG (Halfway House) by Konstantin Münzel.
The Yugo BAFTA Student Awards are a central component of the BAFTA programme ‘Learning, Inclusion and Talent’ and offer talented young artists from all over the world a platform to present their work. The awards are supported by Yugo, Delta Air Lines and Virgin Atlantic.
