FABW alumnus Joscha Bongard also represented at the festival
The Festival International du Film de Cannes announced its programme line-up for its 79th edition, running from 12–23 May, on 9 April. Among the invited filmmakers is Sandra Wollner, an alumna of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. Her new feature film EVERYTIME will screen in the “Un Certain Regard” competition. In addition to the writer and director, numerous other FABW alumni were involved in the making of the film (see credits below).
With EVERYTIME, Sandra Wollner presents an intense family drama: a year after Jessie’s death, her mother and younger sister take in her ex-boyfriend – the boy whom the whole world secretly blames for her death. The unusual trio sets off on a trip to Tenerife to spend a family holiday that never took place. Past and present begin to quietly overlap.
The film was produced by The Barricades (comprising FABW alumni Viktoria Stolpe, Sandra Wollner, Roderick Warich* and Timm Kröger) and Panama Film in coproduction with ZDF/Das kleine Fernsehspiel and in collaboration with ORF.
The Face to Face with German Films initiative is also making a stop at the Cannes International Film Festival. Since 2016, it has offered outstanding German film talents a platform for international visibility and networking. This year, FABW alumnus Joscha Bongard* is among the selected participants. In 2025, he realised his first feature film, BABYSTAR, as writer and director.
Also represented is actress Bayan Layla, who has already appeared in several productions by Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, including the feature film ELAHA (2023, directed by Milena Aboyan).
* Roderick Warich and Joscha Bongard are scholarship holders of the foundation Baden-Wuerttemberg Stiftung and have participated in an international partner programme as part of their studies at FABW.
