Two awards for “WHITE SNAIL” in Locarno

GREAT SUCCESS FOR FABW ALUMNI

At the prestigious Locarno International Film Festival on Sunday, August 17, 2025, WHITE SNAIL won two awards. The love story of two outsiders in Belarus won the Special Jury Prize, and the two lead actors, Marya Imbro and Mikhail Senkov, also received awards.

WHITE SNAIL is the first feature film by FABW alumni Elsa Kremser and Levin Peter (screenplay, direction, production). The crew also includes our graduates Stephan Bechinger (editing), John Gürtler (music), Simon Peter (sound), Jonathan Schorr (sound design) and Kristina Kozlova (assistant director). In addition, Johannes Rass, currently a student at FABW, worked as a post-production consultant.

The story

Masha (Marya Imbro), a headstrong model, dreams of a career in China. Misha (Mikhail Senkov) works in a morgue and brings the dead back to life in his oil paintings at home. The two feel an unusual attraction to each other and roam together through the warm summer nights in Minsk. Misha opens up an unknown world to Masha, challenging her sense of beauty and mortality.

The Festival

The International Film Festival in Locarno, Switzerland, was founded in 1946 and is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. A special highlight every year are the screenings in the Piazza Grande, the world's largest open-air cinema with thousands of seats. The festival offers feature films and documentaries as well as long and short films.
