Grimme-Award 2026

Nine FABW alumni were honoured at the 62nd Grimme Award 2026. The ceremony will be broadcast on 3sat on 24 April.

Justus Pankau Camera Award

Congratulations to cinematography student Dennis Banemann. He has been awarded the Justus Pankau Camera Award, endowed with €3,000. The award is sponsored and presented by the Lions Club Ludwigsburg-Monrepos.

Caligari Prizes awarded by FABW Friends Association

The FABW Friends Association has awarded 13 Caligari Prizes to students to help them bring their projects to fruition.

The awards are sponsored by various companies and private individuals, as well as by members of the Friends’ Association.

FABW introduces new study specialisation

Creative Series Producing combines training in core creative storytelling skills with data- and AI-driven development and production methods. Applications will be accepted starting in January 2026.

FABW ALUMNI FILM "EVERYTIME" IN CANNES

The feature film EVERYTIME by Sandra Wollner (screenplay and directing) and many other FABW graduates is competing in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ competition at the Cannes International Film Festival.

FABW LAUNCHES CLIMATE PROTECTION AUDIT

As part of its sustainability strategy, FABW will be working with WUQM over the coming months to conduct a comprehensive status quo analysis on climate protection. The results will then be incorporated into an integrated climate protection concept.

FABW establishes Carl Laemmle Institute (CLI)

Focus on activities in the fields of artistic-technological research, digital innovation, and forward-looking production methods, headed by Prof. Volker Helzle.

FABW students receive Germany Scholarship

Nine students at FABW have been awarded a Germany Scholarship.

Half of the funding is provided by eight sponsoring companies and private individuals, with the other half coming from the federal government.

Nominations for the 76th German Film Awards

The debut film SOUND OF FALLING, whose screenplay was written at FABW, has received 11 nominations. Twelve Filmakademie graduates are in the running for a ‘LOLA’.

The awards will be presented in Berlin on 29 May.

Respect Code Film

The Film Academy Baden-Württemberg (FABW) is the first German film school to sign up to the Respect Code Film.

The rules set out in the code will apply to everyone working at and for the film academy: staff, lecturers and students. As part of this, the film academy will also join the Themis Trust Centre.
