Carsten Goertz works as communication strategist, founding member of Neo-Metabolism, lecturer in Visual Methods at the Institute for Music and Media at Dusseldorf’s Robert Schumann music university, and mentor in self-profiling at Filmakademie Ludwigsburg’s post graduate program in Motion Design.
Carsten Goertz produced communication strategy and design work for high-end brands in tech, lifestyle, fashion, music and automotive. He served as Creative Director at Apple, Meire und Meire and Random Studio. His collaborations include Raf Simons, Lot2046, XL Recordings, Nike and Het Nieuwe Instituut.
As a public speaker, he appeared at international design conferences like Offf Conference Barcelona, Resonate Festival Belgrade, Off-The-Ground Beirut and FITC Amsterdam. As an educator, he worked at Designskolen Kolding, Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Swedish School of Textiles Boras, University of Iasi, Institute Joaquim Nabuco Recife, Universidade Nova Lisbon, and the IAMAS in Gifu, Japan.
Carsten Goertz collaborates closely with composer/performer Marcus Schmickler, presenting AV installations and live sets roughly once a year, at cultural venues like Club Transmediale, Atonal Festival, Unsound Festival, Museum of Contemporary Art Bat Yam/Tel Aviv, Arne Jacobsen Foyer, and the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn.
He graduated with distinction from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, with a thesis about the algorithmic visualisation of the universe, as it was 10 billion years ago.
