The cinema supports film projection (35 mm) and digital video projection with the modes server with DCP for 2D and 3D, HDCAM, DigiBeta, Beta Sp, Blu-ray and DVD.

Since Autumn 2015, the cinema has also been Dolby Atmos certified. DCPs can be delivered to the cinema via USB stick/USB hard drive or directly imported using the DVS Clipster onto the cinema storage server in the animation institute. Computers/Laptops can also be implemented on request and with a test prior to the screening.

On weekdays, the cinema is only available for use by members of the Film Academy. Verein Kinokult e.V. (http://www.kinokult.de) uses the Caligari cinema for public viewings on evenings and at weekends.
