Grimme Award 2026:

Seven alumni of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg honoured

On Thursday, 12 March 2026, the Grimme Institute in Marl announced the winners of the 62nd Grimme Prize. Among the award winners are seven alumni of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (FABW). Dustin Loose had double reason to celebrate, as he was honoured for his directing work on two productions.

“This year’s Grimme Prize once again demonstrates the diversity with which contemporary issues such as racism, right-wing extremism and the precarious state of the healthcare system, as well as recent German history, are portrayed on German television,” said Çiğdem Uzunoğlu, Managing Director of the Grimme Institute.

A total of sixteen Grimme Prizes and three special prizes will be awarded on 24 April 2026 at the Marl City Theatre. This year's award ceremony, which will be broadcast on 3sat at 10.25 p.m., will be hosted by Linda Zervakis.
