WITH A FOCUS ON AI AND TECH AND RENOWNED INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (FABW) is expanding its range of courses in the production department with the new specialisation Creative Series Producing. The programme combines training in core creative storytelling skills with data- and AI-supported development and production methods. It is aimed at both FABW students and qualified career changers in the field of producing.
The specialisation is part of the strategic partnership between FABW and Beta Film, which was announced earlier this week. It strengthens practical training and prepares students for new market requirements.
Dr. Andreas Bareiss, Managing Director of FABW:
"We train talented individuals who combine creative content development and storytelling with technological and social know-how – skills that are crucial for the content production of the future. The fact that we have been able to attract such a renowned core team of industry professionals to our programme not only underlines the importance of FABW as a key training hub in a changing industry, but also shows that we are on the right track with our programme expansion."
The new specialisation will be headed by Prof. Christian Rohde, Chief of Staff & Transformation Officer at UFA, producer of the „Nibelungen“ miniseries, and honorary professor at FABW:
"I am excited that we will be showing students how creative vision, technological innovation, and modern leadership skills inspire each other. We want to encourage them not only to keep up, but to drive developments themselves. The next generation of storytellers must understand stories – and be able to use technology responsibly. With Creative Series Producing, we are creating the framework to optimally prepare future producers for the future of series production."
Key content areas
The programme is based on three pillars:
- Creative excellence: In times of seemingly perfect surfaces of automatically generated content, students are taught in-depth knowledge of real storytelling, character psychology, and series dramaturgy.
- AI tools & tech: The conscious and targeted use of AI and other technologies is specifically taught, with the artistic intention always at the forefront. An AI micro-drama lab will also be part of the programme.
- Social & Leadership Skills: Students receive comprehensive training in communication and co-working skills, enabling them to professionally manage increasingly complex development and production constellations.
Applications will be accepted starting in January 2026. Further information, including admission requirements, will be available on the Filmakademie's website.
