Additional information

INFORMATION ON TALENTED ADMISSION

If you do not have a general higher education entrance qualification, you have the option of gaining admission to the Filmakademie via the so-called talent pass in accordance with § 10 of our admission examination regulations. As part of the aptitude test, these applicants conduct an extended admissions interview with the examination board regarding subject-specific as well as general educational knowledge in relation to the intended field of study.

INFORMATION ON PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

A certain amount of previous professional experience within the film and media industry is very important and therefore an admission requirement in accordance with our examination regulations. The degree programme at the FABW builds on this previous experience.

You can gain this practical experience at broadcasters, production companies, editorial offices, publishing houses, agencies, but also at the theatre, to name just a few examples. Please ask potential employers for so-called "orientation internships".

Applicants for the undergraduate degree programme must be able to provide proof documents of at least 6 months of practical experience by the application deadline in mid-February, and a total of 12 months by the potential start of the degree programme.

Apprenticeships such as media designers or similar fulfil this requirement for practical experience in full. If you have already worked as a freelancer on a self-employed basis in the industry, this experience can be proven by text extracts from the commercial register and/or order confirmations or, if applicable, invoices.
