Library/video library

The library/video library supports the teaching at the Film Academy and ADK, as well as offering students opportunities for autodidactic education and training.

The video library contains 11,000 of all genres, as well as 800 CDs of film music. Productions made by the Film Academy are archived and provided for use in DVD format. The library currently contains around 25,000 books. The catalogue includes monographs and lexica on the theory and history of the film and theatrical industries, original screenplays, technical manuals and film music scores, two personal libraries donated by Hans Helmut Prinzler (specialising in film) and Manfred Raymund Richter (specialising in theatre), as well as 3 special collections (comics, history of art, and photography). The library also subscribes to around 50 magazines.

All resources available from the library can be found in the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC).

This can be accessed on the Intranet/Internet at http://bibliothek.filmakademie.de.

The library is part of the Meta Catalogue of Film Libraries (www.kobv.de).

The technical equipment includes computers, CD burners, scanners, photocopiers, screening rooms with video and beta players, and DVD and CD players with copying possibilities.
