AStA

What is the AStA?

The AStA (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss // General student committee) is the executive branch of the student body and your democratic representation as students at the Filmakademie. We work in the field of  student policy, culture, political education, learning and living conditions of our students, ecological issues, anti-fascism, anti-discrimination and social policy.

The AStA represents its students vis-à-vis the Filmakademie management, supports student projects, organizes events and parties, is the direct contact for the different student councils of each field of study and other student groups, negotiates (together with the AStAs of other universities) public transport prices for students and other student benefits - and does much more.

Who is the AStA?

We are the AStA (Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss // General student committee) and we are the representative body for all the students at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. This means, if you, as a student, have any kind of problem or want to shake things up around here, we are always the right ones to call!

At the moment our AStA consists of nine people, which were elected by the student council assembly.

As we already mentioned, our official purpose is to represent the interests of the student body vis-à-vis its faculty members and the Filmakademie management. But every AStA also sets its own priorities and we see our mission also in improving the education at the Filmakademie, to lessen the „Erfolgsdruck“, or psychological pressurehere and to generally make the Aka through our projects - big and small - a more just, pleasant, pretty and loving institution.

But what really grinds our gears is the (sub)conscious systemic and individual sexism and racism, which still prevail around us in our society. We all have to finally stand up to these injustices and fight them together. And if you are as angered by this fact as we are, you can always count on us, standing by your side!

So if you are a student at the Filmakademie, if you are applying to do so, or if you are just thinking about it, simply write us! We are here for everything that is on your mind.

Often you can find us at our official AStA office, which is located right next to the small kitchen space in the AStA room. But if we are not there, the easiest way is to just write us an e-mail:
asta(at)filmakademie.de

Of course you can also get in touch with us individually. We, the AStA, are:
