Scenic film direction

In the project-based study programme, students learn to develop their creative and organisational skills in the fields of feature film and television drama. The main focus is on working in creative teams on material development, developing implementation concepts, casting, and working with actors. From the beginning, direction students work very closely with students from the screenwriting and production departments.

Theory and practice are closely linked. During the Winter semester, development work on the films which will be completed in the summer semester is carried out in parallel to lessons. Exercises in the fields of resolution, direction and editing ensure direct applicability to the ongoing projects.

The selection of exposés and the formation of teams take place at an early stage, to enable three to four months of dramaturgical development work. Students learn to be more open, and to develop a healthy willingness to compromise.

The third year of study finishes with the completion of the third-year film. The fourth year ends with diploma admission.
