Programmes focussing on animation consist of two years of basic study and two years of project-based study, with all students of the Film Academy participating in the interdisciplinary foundation course. Project-based study at the Animation Institute facilitates intensive work on personal projects, as well as specialisation in a chosen area of study.
Technical directing is one of six specialisms in the programme focussing on animation. The technical directing programme is designed for lateral entry into the project-based study course, and offers applicants the opportunity to directly enter the 3rd year of study. Applicants should have completed a first degree in information technology or a related subject, and be interested in animation and VFX projects.
Students specialising in technical direction will learn how to use their technical skills in artistic and creative tasks. The focus is on practical work, i.e. TD students participate in projects either at the Animation Institute, or in other departments of the Film Academy. The practical work is supplemented by work on projects in the research and development department. TD students can therefore actively contribute to the development of new applications, and be involved in third-party projects.
